PGX Provides Support: How to stop overindulging in unnecessary calories

Although counting calories is not one of my favourite pastimes, it's still important to be informed. Which is why I found the below infographic to be incredibly useful, especially regarding day to day calorie consumption. For example: aside from decreasing your chances of developing type 2 diabetes by half, I discovered several other ways that your body can benefit from reducing your caloric intake by 100 calories a day. Even better, I learned how many calories every day tasks, such as walking my dog, are burning! Read on to learn more.

The PGX Perspective: If calorie consumption is a problem area for you, PGX can help you feel full faster, preventing you from intaking as many calories. Ultimately, PGX can also provide support with weight loss, blood sugar levels and cholesterol.

Food cravingsNo matter how good the intentions, it can be difficult to curb cravings for sweet or salty foods. The occasional indulgence is no cause for concern but frequent cravings could be a sign of unbalanced blood sugar. Instead of reaching for a high-calorie sugary treat try these alternatives:

• Are you hungry or thirsty? Drink a big glass of water. Your body loves it.

• Too hungry, too often? Fill up on fibre! Soluble fibre fills you up and makes you feel fuller, longer.

• Sugar craving? Grab a piece of fresh fruit or blend a frozen fruit smoothie; naturally sweet nutrition.

Salt and crunch craving? Skip the chips! Crunch some celery or an apple slice. Sprinkle with salt if you like, or better yet dip it in natural peanut butter! You’ll get some crunch, some salt and some fat and protein too!

Age is just a number, but it's one that will feel less apparent to your body if you keep active.

This Weight-Wise Wednesday, as I was searching for something interesting to blog to you about, I came across a study on the CBC website. The results of which suggest that fit individuals experience a higher quality of life, healthwise, as they age; a fact that I thought was very worthy of sharing.

Learn more about the study here.

Summary of the Study:

"In summary, midlife fitness was associated with a lower risk of common chronic health conditions in men and women older than 65 years enrolled in Medicare."
-Authors of the study

Age, body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, blood glucose levels and alcohol were all also taken into account. Therefore, if cholesterol or blood sugar levels are things that you struggle with, learn how PGX can help.

Stay healthy and take care of yourselves, PGX'ers!

PGX is getting Weight-Wise this Wednesday with the help of Master Motivator, Julia Havey!

Julia Havey expains why being Weight-Wise is about making healthy lifestyle changes.

In my opinion, dieting by itself does not work. Rather, people begin to experience weight loss when they start living a healthier lifestyle, by making one change at a time. Overtime, we can end obesity this way. With that in mind, a very interesting news article on Bloomsberg Buisnessweek caught my eye the other day, and I think the entire article is a must-read. The article points out these facts, among others:

"Globally, 500 million people are obese and 1.4 billion are overweight. Obesity is the fifth greatest cause of death, leading to 2.8 million fatalities each year...In May 2012, the U.S. Institute of Medicine estimated the annual cost of obesity-related illness in the U.S. alone is more than $190 billion equal to 21 percent of annual medical spending."
-Efforts to Tackle Global Obesity Shaping a New Investment Megatrend, Says New BofA Merrill Lynch Report, http://investing.businessweek.com

The point of this particular article is that those on Wall Street realize that obesity isn’t going away anytime soon. As such, they are advising their clients to buy stock that has anything to do with dieting, exercise or solving obesity, because the bigger the problem gets, the more money will be spent trying to fix it. Unfortunately, big businesses will make money selling the population junk food and then other businesses will profit off of trying to fix the result of that. However, rather than profit from the Obesity Pandemic, I say, let's do something about it! Let's make those lifestyle changes that will lead us away from obesity and towards a healthier, happier population.

PGX & Julia Havey's Call to Arms: Fight to End Obesity!

How can we make obesity a thing of the past? The answer does not lie in a weight loss drug.

The other day I found an article over at The State Column, FDA warns against second attempts at weight loss drug approvals, and I started to think.

Obesity is a huge problem in the US. It's an issue we must address, not only to help save individual lives but also to help our economy. However, I don't know a single person who is obese or overweight because they are lacking Qnexa or any drug that companies are feverishly trying to develop and market.

According to that article, "about 35 percent of Americas are obese, creating a tremendous need for weight-loss therapies." But the solution to obesity does not lie in a chemical with side effects that can cause eye problems, fetal toxicity… When you see the list of potential side effects, would you really risk all that for a possible short cut to weight loss? Especially when the real solution is safe and possible for everyone!

So what if one were to drink water rather than soft drinks? What if one were to consume healthy portions of real foods such as oatmeal, lean protein, fruit, vegetables, and get 30 minutes of exercise a day. Add 2.5-5 grams of PGX into the mix to ensure a good daily intake of fiber, satiety and blood sugar stability and you've got quite the recipe for health! What if that scenario became the norm? Would we need Qnexa, or would we do just fine on our own? We would do just fine on our own!

A lifestyle change can be daunting but, I think, much less terrifying than the possibility of serious side effects from weight loss drugs. I don’t know about you, but I would rather avoid any possible side effects commonly associated with the diet drugs of today and those in the works for tomorrow. The choice is yours but I urge you to choose wisely because, literally, your life depends upon it!

Instead of waiting for the FDA nod to ingest something as potentially dangerous as Qnexa, try the less risky route. Make a healthy lifestyle change! Don't know how to start? PGX and I are here to help you,100 percent free -- free of charge and free of dangerous side effects. Sign up for free e-books, recipes, access to nutritional support at a simple click of the mouse.

Not eating fast food won't kill you. You are going to have to do a little bit of work on your own and make that first step to change. But no worries, I am right here to help you along the way!
